Just in from work and exhastimicated! Not had a wee drinkie all week, whats that aboot?

So, week 3 and our usual instructor couldn't make it so the session was taken by someone new. He basically told us that we were all using the wrong grip and our technique was bobbins so after 20minutes of warm up exercises, which included throwing and catching balls using your hands!! (mum - you would have enjoyed watching me attempt that!), we had our forehands reconstructed. No serving, no back hand, no fun game at the end....

Frustrating at first, it ended up being a really good session - mostly it was about him hitting a ball to us and us returning it before joinign the end of the line, over and over and so you could eventually see everyone's progression. It also sowed the seeds of dissent for next week.... blimey!

Annie P, I made that chicken and chorizo paella, that is the cause of the garlic (not hallowe'en and repelling vampires). Twas awright, bit oliy with the chorizo and there was enough to make a little paella hut for the boys to play in in the garden. x

In great need of some scottish air.......

Ms Moira Grace Petrie will be arriving in Fife for a flying visit sometime tomorrow (Friday) afternoon and will be wheeching back home to Keyworth just after noon on Sunday. She hopes to fit in as many cups of tea/wine in as many petrie houses as possible during this time.

So tennis lesson #2 and it was all about the follow through and the serve. We only had a black and white camera but as you can see my serve action was pretty good! I am loving this tennis thang! And, I'm not the worst in the class - result. I am not too good t the little dinks - more like buster mottram than tim henman at the moment! Next week - back hand, bring it on!!

Today I am being a domestic godess

I have made broccoli and stilton soup, burritos, four fruit loaves and roasted veg couscous.
My veg is the second attempt. My first lot ended up all over the kitchen floor when I dropped the roasting dish when I was going to put it in the oven!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I had my first tennis lesson last night. I didn't fall over or lose my racquet or decapitate anyone or humiliate myself (a distinct possibility!).

It was great fun and brought back memories of long afternoons battering that ball against the Cowell's outside wall. I'm learning the mechanics of the forehand and also basics of serving - limited only by the flapping of the bingo wings!

Next week, it's all about the follow through!
